Join us for an interactive case-based learning webinar as we explore the key blood tests used in rheumatology and their clinical significance. This session will provide a clear, evidence-based overview of commonly ordered tests, including inflammatory markers and auto-antibodies, and their role in diagnosing rheumatological and inflammatory conditions. Following the presentation, engage in a brief but informative Q&A session, where you’ll have the opportunity to get your questions answered.
Learning Outcomes
- Understand the Purpose of Key Blood Tests – Identify and explain the role of commonly used blood tests in rheumatology, including inflammatory markers and autoantibodies.
- Interpret Test Results in Clinical Context – Recognise how blood test results contribute to the diagnosis and management of rheumatological and inflammatory conditions.
- Apply Evidence-Based Knowledge – Develop an evidence-based approach to ordering and interpreting rheumatology-related blood tests to improve clinical decision-making.
- Differentiate Between Similar Conditions – Learn how to use blood test results to distinguish between overlapping rheumatological conditions and avoid common diagnostic pitfalls.
Speaker – Dr IK Ogbonmwan,
Dr IK Ogbonmwan is dual certified as a Consultant in Sport and Exercise Medicine (SEM) and a General Practitioner (GP) based in Manchester. He completed his higher specialist training in Manchester – working in NHS trusts including Manchester Foundation Trust and Wrightington Orthopaedic Hospital. Elite sports experience was gained at the UK Sports Institute, British Cycling, GB Taekwondo, GB Para-Swimming, Manchester City Football Club, and the Manchester Institute of Health & Performance.
His special interests include community MSK, ultrasound-guided interventions, physical activity promotion and medical education. He currently works as a consultant across the spectrum of SEM including community musculoskeletal clinics and elite sport as a Team Doctor for the England Football Association. He has a strong academic and research background and is a visiting senior lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University and is also on the editorial board for BMJ Open Sport & Exercise Medicine journal.
