Course Description

Event Outline

This webinar provides the first standalone part of a two-part series that aims to raise awareness of axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA), a condition diagnosed after an average of 8.5 years in the UK. Our speakers, who each have lived experience of axSpA, will share their insights and knowledge to improve understanding and management of the condition. These events seek to inform participants about recognising the signs and symptoms of axSpA, increase their confidence in using tools and resources to facilitate referrals, and provide an understanding of the management strategies for axSpA.

Learning Outcomes

Following this webinar you will:

  • Understand the pathophysiology of axSpA
  • Be able to identify inflammatory back pain
  • Be able to recognise presenting symptoms of axSpA to inform a differential diagnosis
  • Appreciate the impact of diagnosis for the patient
  • Gain awareness of referral guidelines, clinical decision support tools

Speaker

Paul Early

Paul is an advanced practitioner physiotherapist at Connect Health North West NHS CATS and specialist senior physiotherapist in private practice at Wilmslow Physio. He has 16 years’ experience working in musculoskeletal practice and life experience of living with axSpA and the challenges of diagnosis.
