CPD helps you to develop your knowledge and maintain your skills in all areas of your professional practice. Effective CPD helps you to keep up-to-date and fit to practice, as well as maintain the professional standards required of you throughout your chiropractic career.
An important aspect of professional life is continuing to learn and develop in order to maintain and enhance professional practice. The aim of CPD is to improve the safety and quality of care provided for patients and the public.
CPD may comprise of conferences, lectures, seminars/ webinars, courses, practical sessions or individual study. The EAC collectively name these CPD events. However, not all CPD is a planned event. Opportunities for informal learning and reflection can arise spontaneously from your day-to-day practice. This can be one of the most useful forms of CPD because it links directly to your everyday work.
The EAC recommends that all members work towards acquiring a minimum of 30 hours learning activities a year, of which at least 15 hours is to be learning with others (colleagues or other professionals). This is in accordance with the European Standard for services provided by chiropractors. However, each ECU Member Country has their own CPD requirements. In some countries, these are legal requirements for continued registration or membership with a professional body. Please consult your National Association for details of your country’s requirements.
