Met veel enthousiasme organiseren wij voor de zevende keer deze opleiding voor zorgverleners, volledig in lijn met de nieuwe Vlaamse richtlijn van Agentschap Opgroeien die in 2025 gepubliceerd wordt!
🔹 When is a tongue-tie restrictive?
🔹 Should treatment always be performed?
🔹 How do we maintain a broader perspective?
Increasing research is shedding light on the importance of the tongue-tie (frenulum linguae). Unfortunately, knowledge within training programs remains limited, and there is a lack of consensus among pediatric healthcare providers on diagnosis and treatment. In 2025, the Flemish Agency for Growing Up will publish the Flemish consensus on this topic after consultation with a multidisciplinary working group. Emilie, a member of the working group behind this guideline, will help you prepare for this and correctly apply the latest insights in practice. The training program will also be revamped this year with the insights Emilie gained at the International Tongue Tie Congress, which took place in Switzerland in January 2026.
Why this training?
After six successful editions, we are delighted to organize a seventh training day, specifically for healthcare providers. During previous editions, we have welcomed midwives, nurses, lactation consultants, physiotherapists, osteopaths, chiropractors, and general practitioners.
Our goal? To offer a broad, scientifically based perspective so that pediatric healthcare providers can better care for babies with a potential restrictive tongue-tie, but also distinguish between functional and anatomical abnormalities and thus avoid unnecessary interventions. During this training, Emilie will share her knowledge and practical experience, supported by the latest scientific literature. The training consists of both theoretical and practical components.
⚠ Important: This training does not teach you how to clip, laser, or otherwise treat a tongue-tie. This remains the domain of doctors and dentists.
