UPDATE FROM THE ECU EXECUTIVE COUNCIL
The decision to cancel the 2020 ECU Convention was a very sad one; compliant with Dutch Government instructions and with the need to protect the health and well-being of delegates and all other parties involved in ECU2020 at the front of our minds.
All delegates will have their registration fees refunded in full and the process has now started. No action is required by individuals, the admin team has written to each registered person describing how the process will operate. Refunds will be made in the order in which delegates registered.
Many registrants have written after receiving their refund to express appreciation of the difficult position the ECU faced and the promptness with which the refunds are being made during lockdown in the Netherlands. We are grateful both for the support shown by those who had registered and for their patience during the refund process.
ECU SPRING DUES WAIVED
On 17 April, as the Covid-19 pandemic led to the temporary closure of clinics in many member countries, the General Council voted to adopt a proposal from the Executive Council to waive the ECU Spring dues for associations experiencing financial difficulties.
On 20 April, the General Council was informed of the results of the vote and on 21 April associations were given the opportunity to waive the ECU Spring Dues.
By 28 April, the majority of national associations had declared whether they wished to waive their ECU spring dues or not. Whilst recognising that not all associations are in a financially fortunate position, the Executive Council salutes the generosity and solidarity with fellow European members of the profession of those who chose to pay in the normal way.
The ECU Executive continues to monitor the developing situation closely and will keep all arrangements under regular review whilst also looking forward to a return to whatever the ‘new normal’ will be.
Meanwhile, may you stay safe and of good heart.
