EVENT OUTLINE

This presentation will explore the relevance of X-Ray and Diagnostic Ultrasound in the examination and diagnosis of common shoulder disorders.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • Revise common shoulder disorders and explore the role of X-Ray and Diagnostic Ultrasound in their diagnosis and management
  • Highlight the advantages, disadvantages and limitations of X-Ray and Diagnostic Ultrasound in shoulder examination, diagnosis and management.
  • Explore and evaluate the accuracy of X-Ray and Diagnostic Ultrasound when compared to common clinical examination techniques.

SPEAKERS Inger Roug FRCC & Neil Thomas FRCC (Ortho)

Inger Roug FRCC
Inger Roug is a doctor of chiropractic graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic, Iowa, USA in 1989. She subsequently earned her diplomate of the American Chiropractic College of Radiology from Logan University
College of Chiropractic, Missouri, USA. Inger has lectured at three chiropractic universities in North America from 1999-2014 and is currently a chiropractic radiologist and senior lecturer at AECC-UC since 2015. Inger Roug has authored several peer-reviewed research and case report articles in chiropractic and biomedical literature. In addition to classroom teaching, Inger worked from 2003-2014 for two MR Imaging centres in the Atlanta, Georgia, USA area, where her main case loads were MRI and CT imaging of the spine and extremities. Inger is a Fellow of the Royal College of Chiropractors and Higher Education Academy. In 2018 she earned her Pg.Cert in Medical Ultrasound from Bournemouth University.

 

Neil Thomas FRCC (Ortho)
Neil is a chiropractor and medical sonographer (MSK) and is a Fellow and Director of Academic Affairs of the Royal College of Chiropractors Orthopaedics, Rehabilitation and Exercise Faculty. Neil graduated from the
Welsh Institute of Chiropractic in 2013 with a Master’s Degree in Chiropractic. Since graduating, Neil has completed several postgraduate degrees including Medical Education, Advanced Professional
Practice and Medical Ultrasound and is currently near completion of a Professional Doctorate in Health and Social Care. Neil regularly uses diagnostic ultrasound in practice alongside Shockwave therapy and
has found this to be an invaluable tool for aiding diagnosis and management of extremity joint disorders.
