Course Description
This course presents the various subtopics in healthy versus problematic function of the upper quarter including thoracic rigidity, postural correction, deep neck flexor muscle function, global neck strengths, self-myofascial release techniques, scapula dyskinesis, humeral head stability and rotator cuff disease.
Each topic is explored regarding evidence of its link to pain and evidence whether exercise has a role to play. This is followed by demonstrating and practicing the clinical tests and range of exercises used to improve pain and function. There is an emphasis on exercises which can be used either in a gym setting, or at home, using a minimum of low-tech equipment, since this best suits most clinicians working in manual medicine. Good form, progressions of exercise and fall-backs for those who need simpler exercises will be highlighted.
