Royal College of Chiropractors CPD event – FICS/RCC ICSSP UPPER EXTREMITY SEMINAR

This practical seminar brought to you by the Royal College of Chiropractors’ Sport & Exercise Faculty (RCCSEF) and the International Federation of Chiropractic Sport (FICS) can be undertaken as a stand-alone CPD event by any chiropractor or final year chiropractic student who is serious about becoming a great practitioner and getting the best results for their patients.

This seminar meets one of the ‘hands-on module’ requirements of the FICS Internationally Certified Chiropractic Sports Practitioner (ICCSP) qualification; the minimum standard for those wishing to develop competencies in sports chiropractic and to serve at official FICS international events. The 2½ day programme is the first to incorporate FICS’ renewed curriculum and includes a range of lectures with a sports chiropractic focus, although relevant information for general chiropractic practice is included.

Dr Alexander Ruhe MChiro, MSc, PhD

Alexander graduated from the AECC in 2007. Amongst other events he was selected for the FICS delegation providing chiropractic care during the World Games 2009 and 2017.

He is now in his 9^th season as team chiropractor for the professional ice hockey team, “Grizzlys Wolfsburg” and also works in professional soccer.

He became general secretary of the German Sports Chiropractic Council (DGSC) in 2008, and concentrates on establishing and promoting sports chiropractic services in recreational and professional sports.

Dr Beth Antoine DC, MS, ICCSP, CCSP, ATC, LAT, ATR, ITAT

Beth brings 13 years of athletic training experience to her current chiropractic fellowship position at Northwestern Health Sciences University, Bloomington, Minnesota, USA. She received her MS in Sports Psychology from Minnesota State University, in 2010, and her DC from Northwestern Health Sciences University in 2015. In her current position as the FICS Education Commission Fellow, her primary focus is development of educational material for the ICCSP Program. Her research centres on the relationship between concussion and psychiatric disorders and the long-term impact on the individual.

Outline of programme

The programme for the weekend will include lectures and workshops on:

• Introduction to FICS, International sport and the ICCSP qualification
• Head Trauma in Sport
• Functional assessments and adjustments/conditions/manipulation, rehabilitation of the:

          – Shoulder

          – Elbow

          – Wrist

          – Hand

• Soft tissue interventions
• Functional taping/strapping of the upper extremity.
