This hands-on International Federation of Sports Chiropractic (FICS) seminar in partnership with Logan University and Alabama Chiropractic Association, can be undertaken as a stand-alone CPD event by any chiropractor or final year chiropractic student who is serious about becoming a great sports practitioner and getting the best results for their patients.

MASTERCLASS:
Instructors: Dr Kelley Humphries, DC, MS, EMT-P, CSCS, ICCSP, CCSP
Date: Friday 22 October – 16:00 – 20:00
Title: Special populations and considerations in Elite Sports. This presentation will cover a range of topics with a 5-minute break at the end of each section.

In collaboration with Logan University, this masterclass will have a lot of great and up-to-date information coming out of the Tokyo Summer Olympics. Dr. Humphries will be at the Tokyo for the Summer Olympics and is the Executive Director of Paralympic Operations, a member of the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee. Dr. Humphries earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology Pre-Medical from Texas Woman’s University in 2007 where she played four years of college basketball. In 2008, she earned her Master of Science in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Adapted Physical Education and Sport from Texas Woman’s University, and in 2014 her Master of Science in Human Performance and Exercise from the University of Houston Clearlake. Dr. Humphries also earned her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Texas Chiropractic College in 2014. She is a licensed paramedic in the State of Texas and has specialty certifications, including Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS). She has also acquired her Internationally Certified Chiropractic Sports Practitioner (ICCSP) and Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician® (CCSP) certifications. Dr. Humphries is a member of the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee’s (USOPC) National Governing Body Council (NGBC) and Community Ambassador for the USOPC’s Council on Racial and Social Justice. She is a certified Athlete Safety Coordinator (ASC) the US Center for SafeSport (USCSS) and serves on the USCSS Athlete’s with Disabilities Advisory Group. Additionally, Dr. Humphries serves on the USCSS Climate Survey Taskforce. Dr. Humphries is a peer reviewer for the Journal of Chiropractic Medicine and the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics. She has also authored, co-authored, and consulted on various articles related to chiropractic, sport, individuals with disabilities, and social issues in healthcare.

FICS ICSC UPPER EXTREMITY:
This seminar meets one of the ‘hands-on seminar’ requirements of the FICS International Certificate in Sports Chiropractic (ICSC) and the minimum standard for those wishing to develop the competencies required in sports chiropractic to serve at official FICS international events. The 2½ day ICSC programme for this seminar incorporates (20 hours of theory and Practical workshops) FICS’ renewed ICSC curriculum and includes a range of lectures with a sports chiropractic focus, although relevant information for general chiropractic practice is included.

- Sports concussion theory and practicum assessment

- Soft tissue interventions theory and lab
- Taping theory and lab
- Upper extremity theory and practicum assessment
Part 1: Theory Webinar: (10 hours theory and theory exam) asynchronous replays (watching the theory online recordings) and pass the section quiz before attending the live session in October. This asynchronous learning will open up ONE MONTH before the October hands-on class and account for 10 hours of per theory learning.
