Course Description
This research will provide an overview of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) techniques for healthcare professionals. In the workshop you will develop an understanding of what CBT is, and will be introduced to some tools and techniques that can be applied to increase your effectiveness working with patients and clients. The focus in the workshop will be on exploring how changes in thoughts (cognitions) can influence behavior and also how changes in behavior can alter the way that you think; and crucially how this knowledge can be applied to maximise healthcare-related outcomes. The workshop is available to all healthcare professionals who are interested in finding out more about CBT and are keen to learn some news tools and techniques to help them in their practice.
Workshop goals:
- To increase awareness of cognitive behavioural approaches
- Develop tools and techniques than can help to influence the thoughts and behaviours of patients and clients
- Understand when and how to refer to qualified psychology practitioners
Monday Morning you will be able to:
- Explain the basis of CB techniques
- Apply specific CB techniques to enhance patient/client outcomes
- Identify when and how to refer to qualified psychology practitioners
