Module 7.

In module 7 with Jake Cooke, we return to the clinical world. Specifically, the often confusing area of differential diagnosis of upper extremity pain and numbness. Is it radicular pain? Is it referred pain from other tissues? Is surgery indicated or is conservative treatment preferred? Jake will take us skilfully through the differential diagnoses and explain the underlying pathophysiology of these very common conditions that all of us will encounter on a weekly basis

Jake Cooke, MChiro, MScAPP, DACNB, graduated from the AECC in 2009 and passed the American Chiropractic Neurology Board exams in 2014. He’s recently completed a Masters in MSK Neuroscience with a focus on chronic pain and dizziness/ balance disorders. Jake’s goal is to make neurology simple and useful, not only for the weird and wonderful cases, but for every patient you see in practice. Neuroscience helps us to understand and explain what our patients are experiencing and how to help them. Neurology doesn’t need to be a complex subject, full of hard to read and remember words and pathways. It can be taught in a way that is easy to learn and apply.

This module is slightly longer than the previous 6 (55 minutes) and earns you 1.5 CPD points accredited by the European Academy of Chiropractic. If you are registered as a GEN-C subscriber you can access the modules via this link: ECU Online Seminar Series 2021.

Module 8.

If you see patients in pain then this is the module for you! Understanding pain is crucial in our profession. Based on neuroscientific research we are starting to enhance our understanding of pain and how and where it arises from. Talented chiropractors are getting more and more involved in pain research and in this module Luana Nyirö will guide us through the state of the art views on central and peripheral pain modulation. Crucial for any clinician that deals with chronic pain patients.

Luana Nyirö is a chiropractor form the University of Zurich, Switzerland. She is currently pursuing her PhD studies, trying to estimate the role of spinal afferents as a possible mediator of physiological pain-relieving effects induced by manual therapies, especially spinal manipulation. Besides that, she is employed as a Junior Consultant for Chiropractic Medicine at the Balgrist University Hospital in Zurich.

This module is packed with information, only takes you about 30 minutes to complete and earns you 0.5 CPD points accredited by the European Academy of Chiropractic. If you are registered as a GEN-C subscriber you can access the modules via this link: ECU Online Seminar Series 2021
