ECU helps defend chiropractic in Spain
The Spanish Ministries of Health and Sciences have announced the intention to implement a ‘Health Protection Plan against Pseudotherapies,’ which, according to some media, might include chiropractic. This follows an aggressive media campaign which contained much misinformation about the profession.
ECU member associations have already lobbied Spanish Government Ministers about unfounded bias against chiropractic and are now helping the Spanish Association (AEQ) to mobilise scientific opinion behind the practice of evidence-based chiropractic care.
Meanwhile, the AEQ has issued an Institutional Statement on the practice of chiropractic in Spain which emphasises the evidence-based approach of its members and seeks to turn the crisis into an opportunity to achieve appropriate regulation of the profession in line with other European nations.
